Oh, the insanity! A French woman claims that she has fallen in love with a robot that she 3D printed herself! She and her “partner,” InMoovator, have been “living together” for over a year, and she is now planning to get married to the robot very soon!
On her Twitter handle by the name of ‘Lilly InMoovator,’ she says:
“I’m a proud robosexual, we don’t hurt anybody, we are just happy.”
Lilly yearns for the day when this human-robot marriage will be legalized in France so that she could formally profess her love out in public. She claims that she had been attracted to the voice of robots since childhood, and at the age of 19 she discovered that she was only attracted to robots and abhorred physical contact with people, news.com.au reported.
She insists that the idea isn’t ‘ridiculous’ or ‘bad,’ just an alternative lifestyle.
‘I’m really and only attracted by the robots,’ she said.
However, she declined to comment on whether she and InMoovator have a sexual relationship.
‘My only two relationships have confirmed my love orientation, because I dislike really physical contact with human flesh.’
She thinks she is lucky to have a family that accepts her “unusual relationship”, although not everyone around her understands. She aspires to become a roboticist and hopes her “relationship” will improve further as technology evolves.
‘I’m really and totally happy,’ she added.
WOULD YOU MARRY A ROBOT?
Lilly’s relationship could be the first of a major trend in the coming days, at least an expert on human-robot relationships thinks so. At a conference in London earlier this week, Dr. David Levy, the author of Love and Sex with Robots, speculated that humans would start marrying robots around or before 2050.
Dr. Levy also said that it would be common to find sex robots modeled on celebrities.
University of London Computing Professor Adrian David Cheok also thinks that robots will turn into preferable choice for partners in the future.
“It’s going to be so much easier, so much more convenient to have sex with a robot. You can have exactly what kind of sex you want. That’s going to be the future. That we will have more sex with robots and the next stage is love… we’re already seeing it.
He further added,
“Actual sex with humans may be like going to a concert. When you’re at home you can listen to Beethoven’s ninth symphony, it’s good enough and once or twice a year you’ll want to go the Royal Albert Hall and hear it in a concert hall.”
“That may be the way sex with humans is going to be. It’s going to be much more easier, much more convenient to have sex with a robot, and maybe much better because that’s how you want it.”
So it is fair so assume that another sexual orientation “robosexual” can be added to the ever increasing list of downright crazy genders. And while it all sounds very futuristic, we must be careful in differentiating between scientific progress and people with serious mental illnesses claiming whacky stuff.
Is it real progress when we start getting attached to inanimate objects like robots and mobile phones? Where is the human touch, emotion, empathy towards other people? The way the things are going, we might be in for a bumpy ride!
