Amazon Echo Introduces “Annoying” Celebrity Alarm Update That You’ll Wish You’d Never Discovered

Amazon’s Echo speaker has slowly but surely gone toe to toe with its competitors over much of the developed world, and with its remarkable features like playing your favorite tunes, switching off the lights and reading the latest headlines, it has become a must-have gadget for the masses.

Amazon Echo uses its personal assistant, Alexa to manage your every request, but the latest updates is not particularly something worth jumping up with joy.

At the start of this year, Amazon Echo has added a celebrity alarm feature to give you a morning wake up call from some very famous showbiz stars. In the American version, big stars such as Alec Baldwin and Missy Elliot’s voices announce “it’s time to get out of bed,” which is still somewhat bearable.

But the dreaded UK version only allows one celebrity option in the form of The Grand Tour team, so you’ll have to deal with a rather obnoxious Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May greeting you good morning.

If you still want to activate the feature, this is how you do it – although after a couple of mornings we bet you will wish you had never discovered it in the first place.

Open the Amazon Alexa app on your smartphone. Tap the Home menu and click Timers & Alarms.

Tap the Alarms menu and click on the Manage alarm volume and default sound option.

The Notification Sounds menu will open, where you can tap on Alarm and scroll down to Celebrity Sounds. From there you can choose the best out of the worst choices, although one wouldn’t mind the using the humbling voice of Morgan Freeman like in Mark Zuckerberg’s Jarvis.
